Be Encouraged
This is the first Easter in over twenty years that I’m not preaching. I’m in the early stages of planting a church. That means I’m on the road some Sundays sharing about what I’m doing, but other Sundays I’m in church on the other side of the pulpit.
And I’m encouraged.
- I’m encouraged that the vast majority of churches I visit are thriving and clearly proclaim the gospel.
- I’m encouraged by signs of new life – of churches planting churches, and existing churches thriving.
- I’m encouraged by the homiletics class I’m teaching. The students love God, handle the text well, and preach Christ. I’m honored to hear them preach.
- I’m encouraged by the number of pastors I know who are faithful to their charge and who aren’t looking to make a big name for themselves.
- I’m encouraged that a number of congregations are coming together this coming Friday to celebrate Good Friday together in the center of Toronto.
- I’m encouraged by all those who’ve shown an interest in what we’re doing as we plant a church in this city. There are a number of pastors who have gone out of their way to help and encourage.
Signs of life are all around. There’s still lots to pray about, and I’m hungry for more, but I’m encouraged.
God is on the move.
